NUS Euraxess Science Slam

What is the most creative way that you can think of to get anyone and everyone interested in your research project? Come and take up the challenge at the NUS-Euraxess Science Slam! In this 10-minute presentation challenge, anything and everything goes! From live experiments to colourful props, you can use anything to share your research with your audience in an entertaining way!

The competition will be on 5 September 2015 at LT52 (Utown).

The winner of this competition will represent Singapore in the Euraxess Science Slam ASEAN 2015 in Hanoi this October. Your flight and accommodation expenses will be fully covered. Winners of the Euraxess Science Slam ASEAN 2015 will be awarded a round trip to Europe where he or she will attend a scientific meeting along with the winners of the other Euraxess Science Slams held in US, Japan, India, China and Brazil.

· This competition is open to participants from all scientifc disciplines and all nationalities.

· You must be a PhD candidate or hold a PhD degree (post-docs and professors can take part too).

· You must be a student or staff of the National University of Singapore

Judging Criteria

Our panel of judges consisting of esteemed NUS professors, the ASEAN Euraxess representative and exco members from the NUS Graduate Students’ Society will be judging your presentation based on the following:

· Accessibility:

Is it easy to understand the slam even for non-experts?

· Conceptualization:

Does the slam have a clear structure? Is it timed well?

· Presentation Style:

Is the slammer engaging / entertaining?

· Originality: 

How original is the slam and the tools that are being used?
