The annual NUS Three Minute Thesis (NUS 3MT) Competition is back!
If you have the ability to showcase your research to a general audience in three minutes, then this competition is for you! 
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition is an academic competition developed by University of Queensland for research graduate students in 2008. It has a global participation with almost 200 universities in more than 18 countries. GSS will be organizing the NUS 3MT competition to select finalists to participate in the various regional and international 3MT competitions. 
This year NUS will be participating in three 3MT competitions:  
Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition
McDonnell International Scholars Academy Symposium
Universitas 21 3MT Competition 
The NUS 3MT Competition will be an online video competition. Interested participants will have to submit a self-recorded 3-minute video to GSS. The winner/finalists from each competition will be selected by the judging panel based on the same judging criteria as the international 3MT competition.

How to Participate:  
  • You must be a PhD student who has passed your preliminary qualifying examination and have not passed your thesis defense on 23th September 2016.

Deadline for video submission: 30 May 2016      
Two winners will be selected from each theme. 
First Prize: S$500
First runner-up: S$300
(Results will be released on 15 June 2016)

Asia-Pacific 3MT Prizes
  • Winner: $5000 research travel grant + funding and entry into the 2016 Falling Walls Lab Final and Conference in Berlin
  • Runner Up: $2000 research travel grant
  • People‚Äôs Choice: $1000 research travel grant
 2016 McDonnell International Scholars Academy Symposium
  • Winner: $1000 USD
  • Finalists will receive up to $2000 USD to attend the Symposium. Stipend must be used for airfare and lodging only.
 Universitas 21 3MT Competition
  • Winner: $2500 USD to visit a U21 university of their choice to benefit their research or on-going career development.
Information Session 
  • The Information Session is provided by the GSS to provide interested participants with the rules and criteria of the competition. We will also be explaining the details of the competition and answer any of your questions.
