The NUS Alumni Toastmasters Club (http://nusalumni.toastmastersclubs.org/ ) will be conducting a Workshop for everyone .This 5 sessions intensive workshop on public speaking. In these 5 sessions you will improve your public speaking skills in voice and body language, words and ideas, content and structure, confident and engagement. Here are the details of this workshop.

Date and Time:  13th Sep, 20th Sep, 27th Sep, 04th Oct, 11th Oct

Time: 7:30pm to 10pm.

Venue: Singapore Management University (School of Economics & Social Science)

Cost: S$399 per participant (Registration before 20th Aug 2013)

Ever wondered what your life would look like beyond academic studies and research? What should our mind-set and aims be before starting out on our postgraduate journey?

Well, this year GSS is proud to have invited 2 highly successful industry leaders and distinguished NUS alumni- Professor Freddy Boey and Dr. Tan Lai Yong to share their valuable experiences and advise graduate students. Our own professors, other alumni and professionals will also be there to interact with you to advice you on making the most of graduate studies.

The new semester is about to begin and the Graduate Students’ Society (GSS) of NUS, takes pride in welcoming our new graduates to the NUS Family!


The GSS has a lot of fantastic events lined up for the graduates, throughout the semester.

The first of all is the GSS Walking Tour, organized by the International Students’ Support Committee of GSS. The tour covers the most happening and lively places of Singapore.


Come join us for FREE for a walk from Clark Quay to Marina Bay Sands and cherish the exotic flavor of Singapore. While you walk and talk, make new friends with the freshers and current graduates.


The walking tour promises you of a memorable experience for life. Get familiarized with the places across the island.

The participants are expected to assemble at the Exit G of Clark Quay MRT at 6pm, from where we shall start our tour. The tour ends at the Marina Bay Sands. Participants are expected to take their own means of transport back to their places. It is always better to bring your umbrella and water bottles for your convenience.

GSS Overseas Trip - Tioman Island

Dear Fellow Postgrad,

The GSS overseas trip is coming in this May!

This time we are going to Tioman Island in Malaysia! Let us enjoy the beautiful sea, delicious food, and even have the chance to go sea outing and play with charming creatures! If you like to refresh yourself and experience something different after this semester, sign up with your friends and start packing!

Date & Time: Morning of 11th May to 13th May, 2013.

Cost: S$222 for NUS postgraduate students, S$242 for others.

The itinerary will be as follow:

Day 1, May 11 Saturday: Depart from NUS, arrive at resort in the afternoon, BBQ dinner

Day 2, May 12 Sunday: sea outing to Pulau Rengis, visit Marine park

Day 3, May 13 Monday: Come back to Singapore after lunch.

Price includes:

• Return Air-con Coach between NUS and Mersing.

• Return express ferry between Mersing and Tioman.

• Tour & Meals as 2B+2L+1D

• One sea outing (Excluding Equipment)

• 2N stays in at Tioman Paya Resort (Superior Room has 3 Singles bed; Deluxe Room has 1 Double & 2 Single Bed)

• Group Travel Insurance.

• Great opportunity to meet new friends and join GSS.

Does Not include:

• VISA expenses
